The retreat
Casa do Pateo is a country house surrounded by pine forest and a garden that sings a hymn to the art of mother nature. It is a tribute to the flow of existence, and to the heart beat of mother earth.

The house is located in the Natural park of Arrábida, just a few minutes from the Albufeira Lagoon, the small village of Meco and eight kilometers from a charming fishertown, Sesimbra.
This is a place where you can enjoy the blend of incandescent light that shines from the forest in the late afternoon and the breathtaking translucent clarity of a morning by the ocean.

Hortense Jessua
French artist and illustrator based in Portugal, Hortense works for brands in different fields: textile, hotels, restaurants, stationery and prints.
Creating and painting have always been an important part of her life. She likes to draw inspiration from day to day life, botany and architecture from Portugal, Brazil and all beautiful and warm places she fell in love with. Hortense gives attention to details and tries to reflect that in her art using mostly watercolour and gouache.
